TRAVEL INFORMATION
The University of Maryland College Park 's Graduate School Preview Day will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in the Colony Ballroom in the Adele H. Stamp Student Union. Below is a listing of information we believe will be useful for planning your travel arrangements. PARKING
The Graduate School will provide parking codes at registration for prospective students who do NOT have a UM Student Parking Permit. Please park in the Union Lane Garage or Stadium Drive Garage. During registration,we will provide you or your group with parking code(s) to cover the parking fees. Please let us know beforehand if you are traveling in a coach bus. Coach buses require a permit to park in a different parking lot.

From Annapolis , and Points East, Via U.S. 50 West:
Take U.S. 50 West to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore
Take Exit 23 " 201 Kenilworth Avenue Bladensburg Greenbelt"
Turn left at light "To Greenbelt Road and Bladensburg"
At 3rd light, turn right onto Paint Branch Parkway
Proceed approximately two miles to U.S. Route 1
Turn left onto US Route 1
Turn right onto Campus Drive (University Main Entrance)
Pass the Circle M
Turn Right onto Union Lane
Turn Left to enter Union Lane Garage (please take voucher)
OR
Take U.S. 50 West to the Capital Beltway (I-495)
Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore
Take Exit 25, " U.S. 1 South, College Park"
Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. 1 South
Turn right onto Campus Drive (University Main Entrance)
Pass the Circle M
Turn Right onto Union Lane
Turn Left to enter Union Lane Garage (please take voucher)
From Baltimore and Points North, Via I-95 South:
Take I-95 South to exit 27 onto the Capital Beltway (I-495)
On 495 follow signs to Exit 25B, “U.S. 1 South, College Park”
Proceed approximately two miles on U.S. Route 1 South
Turn right onto Campus Drive (University Main Entrance)
Pass the Circle M
Turn Right onto Union Lane
Turn Left to enter Union Lane Garage (please take voucher)
From Baltimore and Points North, Via 295 South (the Baltimore/Washington Parkway ):
Take 295 South
Exit at I-95 / I-495 North
Stay in right lane

At the second traffic light, turn left onto Adelphi Road
At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Campus Drive
Pass the Circle at Mowatt Lane
Bear Left to continue on Campus Drive
Turn Left onto Union Lane

Take 16th St. North
16th St. becomes Georgia Ave. North at Maryland/D.C. line
Go East on the Capital Beltway (I-495) toward “ Baltimore”
Take Exit 28B “ 650 South New Hampshire Avenue Takoma Park”
Go South on New Hampshire Avenue
Proceed approximately 1/2 mile
At the second traffic light, turn left onto Adelphi Road
At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Campus Drive
Pass the Circle at Mowatt Lane

Turn Left onto Union Lane

From Washington , D.C. (Northeast/Southeast), Via U.S. 1 North:

Directions to Campus by Plane
The University of Maryland is served by three major airports--Reagan Washington National (DCA),Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), and Washington Dulles (IAD). Following are suggestions for travel to campus from these airport locations.
Reagan Washington National (DCA) : http://www.mwaa.com/national/
Located in Arlington , Virginia , this airport is located about 15 miles south of College Park . Travel can be slow through downtown Washington , D.C. during rush hours; approximate driving time is 40 minutes.
You can take the Metrorail from the airport.
Take the Yellow Line (toward Mt. Vernon Square ), transferring to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt ), and get off at College Park/U of MD station.
The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station.
Get off the Shuttle-UM at the Stamp Student Union (or third) stop.
Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. The cost for one way trip is $25 for the first guest and $8 for each additional guest.
Taxi service from the airport to campus will cost approximately $40.00.

Located just outside Baltimore , this airport is approximately 25 miles north of College Park . Driving time is approximately 35 minutes.
MARC Train service is available from the BWI Rail Station to College Park .
The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station.
Get off the Shuttle-UM at the Stamp Student Union (or third) stop.
Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. The cost of a oneway journey is $27 for the first passenger and $11 for each additional guest.
Taxi service from the airport to campus will cost approximately $35.00.

Located near Herndon , Virginia , this airport is about 35 miles southwest of College Park . Driving time is approximately one hour.
You can take the Metro Bus and Metrorail from the airport
Bus service is available to take you to the West Falls Church Metrorail station where you will take the Orange Line (toward New Carrollton), transferring to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt ), and get off at College Park/U of MD station.
The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station.
Get off the Shuttle-UM at the Stamp Student Union (or third) stop.
Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. The cost for a one way trip is $35 for the first passenger and $8 for each additional guest.
Taxi service from the airport to campus will cost approximately $55.00.

Take the Camden Line train (toward Washington , D.C. ); get off at the College Park station.

MARC from Baltimore (Penn Station/West Baltimore/BWI Airport)
Take the Penn Line train (toward Washington , D.C. ); get off at Union Station.
Transfer to the Metrorail system.
Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt ); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
