Applying for National Scholarships and Fellowships with Camille Stillwell, Ed.D.
Graduate students will have an opportunity to hear about selected national scholarships and fellowships from Tim Turner, Program Director, National Science Foundation, Christopher Powers, Program Director, National Security Education Program, and our campus Fulbright faculty representative, Dr. Jonathan Auerbach. Dr. Camille Stillwell will discuss scholarship applications from a national reader's perspective. Scholarship search techniques will be demonstrated.

Developing a Curriculum Vitae with Javaune Adams-Gaston, PhD and Becky Weir.
An essential component of an effective job search for positions in education, government, industry and the private sector as well as for applications for fellowships and grants is a carefully crafted, in-depth curriculum vitae (CV). This workshop provides the following: a discussion of the parts of a CV, how to write it, what to include in it, how to use it and how it differs from a resume. Writing tips for preparing a CV will be given and sample CVs and cover letters will be disseminated.

Conducting A Job Interview with Robert L. Belle, Jr., Ed.D.
A successful interview is key to landing an academic position or other
employment. And a successful interview requires proper preparation. This
comprehensive workshop will focus on techniques for preparing for an
interview and for presenting oneself at an interview. Special issues
covered will include “the talk,” interview etiquette, questions to ask
interviewers, and many other topics.

Enterprise Creation and Entrepreneurship with Asher Epstein
The Council of Graduate Schools recently noted entrepreneurship as a current hot topic in the graduate community. This workshop is designed to introduce graduate students to principles of entrepreneurship and their many applications in the world. The workshop will help students evaluate an idea for a business and put that idea into motion

Ethics in the Conduct of Research and Understanding the Institutional Review Board with Timothy Ng, Ph.D., and James Hagberg, Ph.D.
Scholars are obliged to conduct research in an ethical manner. While deliberate fraud is rare, problems can occur regarding such issues as order of authors, unintentional plagiarism, and conflict of interest. Most institutions and funding agencies have formal codes of conduct for research that are overseen by Institutional Review Boards. This workshop will discuss codes of research behavior and provide guidelines used by the UM Institutional Review Board.
