2017 marks the eighth celebration of National Postdoc Appreciation Week worldwide. Since 2009, NPAW has been sponsored by the National Postdoctoral Association. During this weeklong celebration, participating institutions are encouraged to plan activities that honor postdocs and recognize the contributions they make to research and development in the United States. In 2017, 98 institutions in 34 states, Canada and India hosted 350 events to recognize the work of postdoctoral researchers.
